Tree-iffic

How different would my backyard look if all those trees are killed by pine beetle, this year? They survived the first year of major pine beetle infestation. Will they survive the others? Last year, we took some steps to try to ensure that they survived. We aren't sure if we were just lucky not to get any bugs or if what we did actually worked, but our trees seemed to survive the onslaught.

Every moment that I spend in my yard, now, seems sad because I'm not sure that I could handle lose all of those beauties, or even one of them for that matter. I sure hope that we don't. We have taken other methods this year to try and rescue our old babies. We aren't spraying and risking all arthropods in the area (I like bugs and I'm kinda against that) but we are trying something a little more drastic.

After all... as one of my favourite evil characters says, "desperate times call for desperate measures"

Here are some happy pictures of the boy, to oppose the sadness and trepidation (one of our current spelling words) of my post.
