Dilemma

I'm looking at flights to the East this summer, for Meg's wedding. I have an issue. Hunter will be 25 months old, at the time of our trip. If he's not yet two, he travels free. He will be one month over... His ticket costs us $890, the exact same as our tickets. What would you do?

Send him a month early...
Joking!
I don't think there is any way around it. It might depend on the airline, but when I was looking at "flying with infants" for our trip to Mexico, they seem pretty strike with it, as in if the child turns to on the trip you pay for half a ticket.
It's a pain, but...
Hunter having his own seat will be nice though, the more room the better.

ooooh, moral dilemmma...don't you have to show a birth certificate? maybe meg will change her wedding date ;) haha. call the airline and ask if they make any exceptions. the worst they can say is no. good luck with your decision!!

After taking a toddler on a flight, I would say get him his own seat. They need space to wiggle. Otherwise wear armor so you won't get bruises.

Wow thats a lot to pay for such a little guy. I've flown with Dylan numerous times and when he was younger it was great to have him on my lap. Now that he is 2 I think he'd appreciate his own seat. I guess telling a little fib about age to the airline is a little different than telling one at the zoo????

That is A LOT to pay for a 2 yr old. Personally I'd tell the real age and pay the money but I can understand why you wouldn't! In my opinion you will appreciate him having his own seat though and the difference between a happy child and an unhappy child on a flight is worth a fair bit (although Hunter may not be as loud or as assertive as Emily!).

Hi there! Thanks for visiting my site - I always love new mommies to talk to...!

So, wow, seems like you've got a little situation on your hands with this flight. What to do?? I know it sounds a little petty to some but $890 for such a little guy (ach!!) is soooooo, soooo much to fork over! Personally, I think I would fib about his age - maybe tweak it to "his bday is in four days" when/if you're actually asked at the time you check-in or board. They usually ask for a birth certificate but I'd try to fake the "Well, I didn't bring it because he isn't yet two and, therefore, didn't feel the need to prove it to anybody." I guess the worst that could happen is them charging you the full price on the spot. That or hauling you and hubby into the torture chamber for interrogation... just kidding.

Good luck with it all. We haven't had to fly anywhere since our oldest turned two, but I'm dreading the day when it actually arrives!!!

See you real soon!

Option 1- Suck it up and pay for the ticket. You can not lie about his age. You have to show ID for him.

Option 2- Leave him at home with someone you trust. Being a wedding guest and bringing along a two year old is a lot of work!

Option 3- Drive.

ugh. I would say to goa month early, but I guess that just makes no sense. Driving would be a nice experience...to see our beautiful country...except youhave a toddler with you. (I did it from Montreal to VAncouver and back when I was six or seven. For a wedding. I will never do it again without movies and a big expensive RV.) I say, buy him the ticket. It's soooo worth it.

We are going to buy him the ticket. For those of you that know me.. you know I can't lie. I just wanted to share my pain in forking over that much money for my kid who is sooo close to the age limit of being free. Sorry for whining.
