Alarmed

I had a long to-do list yesterday, while J was on the coast for a conference. #1 was Report Cards, however I needed to pick up a couple things before I was fully ready to go. So, I packed Hunter up (after watching the events at the Cenotaugh (sp?)) and headed off to AH. We got there in good time and headed in. There was nobody else around. Well, sure enough, my code doesn't work on the alarm system. I'm frantically entering all possible options of my code, thinking that I got it wrong... nope... ALARM!!!!! Sucky. Hunter is totally terrified by the loud noise and clings to me. So, I figure that I should call the alarm company so I can get my code figured out. Can I find my keys?? nope. I retraced my steps like thirty times (not too hard, I'd only entered the building and walked five paces), dumped out my bag and every single pocket of my jacket, checked my sleeves, etc... To no avail. Meanwhile, I've stopped moving out of the motion zone, so the alarm shut off. Whew. Hunter relaxed a little. I still don't have keys. Maybe they are outside? I can't go outside to look for them, the alarm will be set off again... crud. Hmm....

Finally I locate my keys, in the lock on the alarm cabinet (duh). So, off I head to the office to get o the phone. ALARM!!! I set it off again and this time I'm right beside the friggin' siren. Hunter.. once again, clings to me (at least there is one enjoyable part of all this). I got to the phone and called the lady. Talked to her for a bit and figured out that, even though I was given a number... I am not in the system. I moved in the office. ALARM. I'm not in the system?? Apparently my secretary just made up the number she gave me? I don't think so. So, I have to leave the building and wait outside for the security guy to get there and charge me for showing up. We leave. ALARM!!!

H and I play outside for a bit. He falls and smashes his face on the cement. Crying... great! So, snuggling my very upset son (it was not a good morning for him), I sit and wait. patiently. Fortunately, another teacher showed up and let us in. It took us a whole of thirty seconds for me to get into my cleassroom, get my stuff and get out. Argh.

I returned outside to wait for the security man. He finally arrived (I've now been there an hour and a half for a thirty second job). I had to spell my name for him and he told me nothing.
Can I go to my other school? Can I have a code? My current code will just set off the alarm again.
"Sure, go ahead. They'll just call me there again."
Riiiight.. That sounds like a great plan. I think I'll just go home to sleep.
Lame. Needless to say, it was an alarming morning.

Sorry, you'll just have to wait for pictures until tomorrow... Blogger is being lame.

Oh boy, what a morning! Your poor little guy! I hope he's better - smashed face and all - and that your (and his) ears aren't still ringing from that maddening siren! Tomorrow'll be better with more sleep...

Isn't that always the case? Nothing is as simple as it seems. Hope your son is okay. I would freak if my daughter fell on her face!
