Just a few details

This is not the whole story, you'll get that later.

Labour started at 5:34am, contractions 7 min apart, without induction. How much had I slept before that? Thanks for asking.. two hours. UGH.

By 7:30am I had showered (legs shaven and all) to help through some contractions and was sitting on the yoga ball trying to get through contractions at 4 min apart.

9:00am some contractions were nearing 2 min apart and very intense. We decided to head to our appointment at the clinic. Doc wasn't there, nurse told us to go to the hospital, I guess sh didn't want to deliver our baby alone ;)

9:25am contraction here: on the ground, in the scungiest part of the parkade.

9:35am in the hospital, checked and at 8cm, Doc paged.

10:00am 10cm Doc broke my water, waiting to push.

10:20am start pushing.

10:45am Susannah Marie Margaret emerged - perfect. No drugs, I didn't even experience the desire to ask for any. I only told Justin, twice, that I didn't want to do it anymore (I'm proud of myself). When pushing and she didn't emerge at first (uhhhh hello?) I said "Damn" and waited until the next urge to push.

Her name is Susannah, we like to call her "Sooz" and yes, that's how we spell the nickname.

She weighed 8lbs 4oz at birth - Where was all that baby? my Doc asked.

She measured 20.5" in length.

She was with us the whole time in our room, except for one weighing and her PKU test. She didn't sleep the first night (neither did I) unless she was laying nudie on my chest - bliss, I tell you. I might change my mind if this pattern continues, but we will see.

We were discharged at 11am on Sep 11th (24 hours old). We had been in the hospital for almost 26 hours.

Sooz... not a fan of the car seat, then she fell asleep.

Great Gran and Great Grandad Hunter were her first visitors, at home.

We are doing well. I am sore. The whole birth story (what's left) will come later.

Thank you for all your lovin'

whoa liz, 5hrs of labor? you don't waste any time! and 8lbs 4oz, she's not a small baby to be having so quickly. I need some pain meds just thinking about it. You're truly amazing and I can't wait to hear the rest of the nitty, gritty details.

Wow Liz. I totally appreciate this story.
I so hope I have the guts to stick it out drug free, but everyone keeps giving me negative feedback. So I'm glad to hear how great you did. AND I would say you didn't even complain. I think when the time comes I might want to punch Bowen but it souds like you were really nice to Justin. Oh I hope I have the restraint to remember to love Bowen.
