Technology and Thievery

Ha!
Someone got into our car in our carport last night and went through our stuff. It wasn't locked (we tend to leave Hunter's door open because it makes things a lot easier when we are trying to pack out the fam-not anymore, I guess). How do I know, then? Well, the car door was dinging open (it's busted so it dings without keys in) when I went out to get the mail. I went to shut it and noticed that all our stuff (junk) from the console was spread over the driver's seat. Then I noticed that Hunter's diaper bag was open and everything was dumped all over the back seat and in his car seat. Hunter and I walked to meet Justin at music practice last night and he drove us home. We were home by 9:30pm. This was not a mess that we had made.

The reason that I can laugh about this is that we have nothing of value in our vehicle - except for two car seats, but what thief wants to lug a toddler and infant car seat as they get-away? No wallets, no money, no weapons (well, my jackknife, but luckily they left that there- it's engraved with my name)... nothing of quick value or assistance to a thief. Anyhow, the funniest thing is that my discman and many of our tapes (yes, we have no CD player in our car) are in a plastic bag behind the seat. They were sorted through. In the day and age of all our latest technology... the thief tossed my discman on the back seat and left the vehicle. Hahahaha!!! I loved that thing. Meanwhile, they were thinking "Piece of crap, why don't these people have an i-Pod? or some expensive mp3 player? or a fancy dancy video i-pod or a souped-up stereo?"
Well, I can answer that, mr/ms thief - you picked the wrong car to sort through, didn't ya? We got nothin' dude! Sorry to waste your time!!
Hope this gives your day a laugh!!

Wow. I had a similar incident happen to me when I was in College. The thieves took some of my CD's but others they did not bother with. I guess they did not like my taste in music. I can't believe that they are actually picky about those kinds of things!
Glad to hear nothing was taken!!

I'm just glad that neither you nor the kids came upon this loser while he/she was rummaging around! It's so odd. You're the second friend in a week that's told me their vehicle was broken into. In her case the thief made away with her daughters pink (pink!) cd player and the bag that the cds were in (hahaha!) and the satellite radio player that won't work if the whoever attempts to use it doesn't have the proper registration number. All for nothing, but it just burns me that anybody would infringe on somebody's property like that!!!!

Again, I'm glad you guys are safe.

That's funny.

We had our discman stolen a couple of years ago, and the thieves were lucky enough to get away with some annoying children's cd. Suckers.
