With snow comes....
...snowsuits! Anyone care to guess roughly how many snowpants I put on/boots I tucked in/jackets I zipped/mitts I shoved on/flies I zipped? today??? Yep, snow brings snowsuits and as a primary teacher, I get all the fun! It's really worth it, I just wish that they would change lunch hour a bit... maybe ring the bell early so that the kids can come in and get all their gear off without missing a half hour of my teaching time (or on and not miss half of the lunch hour)!
Also, with snow comes thoughts of Christmas. Yes, our lights have been up for a while, but it's the snow that really makes me start to think. One side of my family is down two people this Christmas (my bro in Panama surfing and my youngest sis in Nova Scotia), so that causes me to shorten my gift preparation time for them, to ensure delivery. Then, I have the in-law side which (yes, it was probably my terrific idea) is making handmade gifts for everyone.
School ends on the 22nd, but for me (because I don't work Fridays, usually) the 21st. That gives me three days of full-time gift prep (minus the have-to-be-sent-early gifts... you know who you are) to get all my stuff in order. Last year, I got slammed by a bug right around that time, and was frantically putting gifts together late afternoon on the 24th (dV gift exchange is that night). Whew!
It should be a great season. I loooooove (no exaggeration) putting together gifts for people. It's my fave. Justin likes buying them. I like making, and just giving in general, we're a good balance.
This brings me, kinda, to another thought that I just had. I blog so that my family and friends far away can be in on what's going on in my life. Through the blog world, I have made a number of internet friends that I truly enjoy "talking" to... it's really cool. I have truly been blessed by the relationships in my life. Sometimes, I wonder why and how readers come to my blog, and why they stay. It makes me feel good knowing/imagining that there are people out there that enjoy having a peek in on my life and that can relate to what I write. I'm not requesting a de-lurk, so don't worry. I just wanted to put my thoughts out there... because that's kinda what this blog is for, right?

I love reading your blog because it makes me feel like I am not so far away from you and yours :)
Miss you guys!
I will be up next week from about the 3rd to the 7th... hopefully we can meet up! :)
This time of year is always so exciting! When I use to teach, I felt I never had enough time to get things done/ready for the holidays. Hope you have better luck with that one.
Thank you for sharing little tidbits of what's going on in the classroom. I miss teaching sooooo much, I love to hear those stories!
I love making presents...AND buying them...depends on the recipient :)
