I'm in training.

Whew. I'm not sure what I am in training for, but it must be something and it must be something good. I'll bet that God has a serious plan for me. I wonder what it is....?? Perhaps it will be chasing my son (and other kids??) around my yard. Hmm.. we'll just have to wait and see, won't we? Anyhow, let me tell you about my day so far so that the training thing makes more sense.

Prepare yourself, it's a long story...

So, I got up at a reasonable time this morning. Hunter is teething and so his sleep patterns have been a little bit shattered, but, hey, I can handle it. I consider myself lucky becuase my angelic son did sleep through the night on his own at only two months old. So, sheesh, get back on track... right... reasonable time of awakeness. So, I decided that I really need to get on my student loan interest relief application becuase I really can't afford to be paying 600 bucks a month on Justin's and my student loans yet. Especially considering the fact that we just had a couple weeks of no work at all. So, I sat down and got all the paperwork together so that I could have a list (I like lists) of what I had to do, what needed to be copied and where I needed to go today with Justin (neither of us had been called in). Lo and behold, I had just finished my list when...rrrrriiiiinngggg. Phone. It's a call for Justin. So, he takes it and takes..... wait for it... wait for it... the car. Awww crud. Now those of you that know me, know that I REALLY hate (and, yes, Teich, I did say hate) driving and using up fuel and then paying exorbitant amounts for filling up my vehicle. Also, those of you that know me will also know that Justin and I happily lived for a year in Kelowna without a vehicle. We bussed and biked, it was terrific! Now, we have a house and we don't live in a very central area (besides the fact that it's on a freakin' huge hill), AND I have a little boy that can't just sit on the bike with me..yet. So, I decided, I live on the stupid bus route, I will just take the stupid bus. Even though, another point of frustration, it costs 2 bucks a trip. So, I set out with the stroller fully loaded and all my stuff together for the day. The stroller contents included a lunch, Hunter's diaper bag and all the stuff that I needed to copy and then mail out. I caught the bus at the top of the hill by our house (didn't notice Kristin and Fran drive by until too late - sorry guys), and had a nice chat with one of our neighbours.

I caught the bus down to the church where Kellie and Henry (Grandpa D) had oh-so-kindly printed out a form for me and then they let me use the photocopier AND the fax machine. Then, as I was just packing up my stuff, I ran into a lady from the church who was going to catch the bus. So, I said that I would catch it with her and headed out to go to the School Board Office (herein referred to as SBO) to pick up paystubs and such. After standing and waiting for the bus for about ten minutes, my brain completely fried and referred to the previous memory where I needed to go to Office Depoit to get my photocopying done. Well, since I was about a ten minute walk or five second bus ride away from Office Depot (herein referred to as OD), I decided to save myself the two bucks and just hoof it. It was only when the bus passed me (too late to catch it with stroller and all) that I realized that noooooooooo, I wasn't going to OD, I was heading dowtown for crying out loud. Well, terrific, now I was a holf hour away from catching a bus that would take me downtown.

So, hoof it I did. I decided to head for the OD area and deposit some basketball fees into my bank account. Did that, then thought - hmmm how am I going to get myself back on the bus track? I figured I would just head for Columbia St. because there was bound to be a bus going by that I could catch to the mall to transfer to the bus that goes near the SBO. So.. I walked some more. At this point, Hunter has been sleeping very nicely since I stepped onto the bus outside my house.I got to an intersection and stopped in the crosswalk to let... my bus go by. Again, didn't realize that I wanted that bus until I caught it's taillights. Dang it! Where is my brain? It would have been sooooo easy to just flag the driver, after all I AM pushing a stroller.

Anyhow, so then I walked some more to get to another stop that could take me downtown. Well, I missed that bus, too. I ended up walking ALL THE WAY downtown (which isn't really that far, but it sure seemed like it). Then, once downtown, I realized that I couldn't catch the next bus to the SBO unless I waited for 40 minutes. Well, heck, I might as well walk there too instead of waiting around. At the bottom of ninth avenue, I removed my sweatshirt (winter jacket had been previously removed) and buckled down for the climb. It went by faster than I expected.

When I fiunally arrived, the lady from the SBO laughed at me and told me that I stink (actually, she said that I smelled like fresh air, but I figured she really meant that I stunk), but handed over my paperwork and said that there were no photocopiers available. So, I headed out again. My next stop would have been the bus stop at the top of ninth except that it was 50 minutes away from passing that point and I was only five blocks from a visit at my Aunt Cindy's and then four more from my parents' (where my cell phone was). So, whaddaya know... I walked some more! Cindy and I had a nice visit together, then I headed out to my parents' place where I used their computer to get my photocopying done (Thanks, guys, I owe you one) and woke Hunter to feed him, change his diaper and then pack up for the next bus. The kid had been sleeping all that time, I was so very appreciative.

Back on the bus, Hunter fell asleep again as we came home!

So, that's my story. I'm pretty sure that I won't be able to move tomorrow. My body hurts in places that I had forgotten could hurt! It was good exercise, though. I guess I also saved some money, after all!
Have a great Halloween everyone, pictures to come later.

It sounds like so much fun, Elizabeth! It's kind a cool awakening to know that everything is really pretty close, eh?
