Why I blog

Yes, I blog a lot. I feel kind of lame that I blog so frequently with a newborn, but let me explain when I blog... When the kids are asleep or when Susannah is sleeping and Hunter is pleasantly playing.

I caught myself, though.

I am so excited to slather photos of my precious children all over the internet (read: facebook and blog) so that my beloved sister who is in Van can see the kids as they change and grow and so that my dear family and friends far away can be in on our lives... too excited? My confession: Susannah was only a few days old and Justin was called to his first day of work. Hunter was playing and Susannah was a happy awake little girl. I had just fed her, so I put her down on the bed behind me and blogged. WHAT??? I had my dear dear precious newborn daughter in my arms and I put her down so that I could blog?!!

I cried about it, later, to Justin when I realized what I had done. Never again. I find myself, at three (or four, or five, or one) in the morning, sitting in my wonder-chair, exhausted, sharing love with my little girl. Where else would I rather be? NOWHERE!! This morning, at church, she exploded through her diaper, sleeper and blanket so I took off to the change table.

I need to tell you something. There is nowhere, on this wonderful Earth that God has so incredibly created, that I would rather be than with my kids and my hubby. So, that's what I think when I am up at crazy hours (though she is an amazing sleeper) or doing stinky duty. These days are so brief and I am so incredibly blessed to have the responsibility that I do to share this precious time with my little ones. There is nowhere that I would rather be.

So, you're wondering about my blogging habits. Let me guarantee you this. The kids are asleep and I will be soon, just after I show you how cute they are!

Heather, I love you and miss you. See you soon, at Thanksgiving. All my faraway friends and family, I love you and miss you too. These... are for you!

Hey Liz- just want to say congratluations. I was so excited when I heard you had a little girl. Wish I could be around to 'nurse' your baby- totally Australian style though (now anyone who reads that comment is going to think I'm a complete weirdo). The whole blogging/real life ratio is one that I have always struggled with. Glad to hear your thinking on it though. Healthy balance- guess that's what we all need with so many things in life!

I'm like you, I use my blog to get stories and pictures out to family members that live far away.

I remember Laurel falling asleep in my arms and me not wanting to put her down, so I'd blog while she slept in my arms/lap.

Love how Hunter is sharing things with his baby sister already. She looks totally amazed at Mater! He is a pretty cool toy.

Lizard, you're the best. I love it that you keep me updated through your blog, and I appreciate the time it takes to do it. So I leave you a comment every once in a while to let you know that I DO check your blog. Every day. Sometimes more than once. :S
But please give kisses and love to Hunter and Sooz. I miss you guys.

I blogged...even in hospital lol (through my friend) So I think I understand where you are coming from. To me - doing a blog entry is quick. It doesn't take long and I think that by giving me chance to put my thoughts to paper quickly - can only be a good thing

Why, why, why? Why is it that each and every time I come by for a visit I come away with a little tear in my eye, and a warm, fuzzy feeling inside? It's because I can see and feel (through reading your words) how absolutely mad-in-love you are with your family. And wanting to share it all with us just makes you that much more endearing to me!

The sleep-deprivation is so worth it after blogging, right? Hehehe. That was me too during Little Miss Sunshine's early months...take care of yourself. Hugs!

Your kids are going to love looking back at your blog when they get older and see how much you love them and you wanted to capture the memory of them as little kids!

I sometimes think we blog our of obligation more than desire. I have family at a distance now too and I feel like I should post something about our life.. especially the kids to keep them updated. And in retrospect it does pull time away from way more important things. Good for you. Ps: Your baby bambino is so so cute.

Hey Elizabeth, I gave you an award. I love reading the sweet stories about you and your family. Thanks for sharing. Come by when you have a chance (ha) and see.

I think blogging is a great way to share your life with far-away family and friends ~ it's why I do it and intend to continue when Baby Boy Robinson joins us. All of my family lives in BC so it's the easiest way to share our lives rather than send out mass e-mails every second day. Don't feel guilty! Everyone appreciates your efforts!

I agree with Danica! Don't beat yourself up about blogging! You are so good at sharing news and special stories about yourself and your family. We all appreciate it so much! We also know, for sure, from reading your blog and from being with you, that you love your family dearly! If you take some time for something other than holding your newborn, it doesn't mean that you are not a good Mom!!!!!! Really!!!!!!
Love you lots. Mom

Besides, I really like being able to click on a new photo and make it the background on my computer! Thanks!

I admire how you are able to keep up with blogging and have a newborn. It just shows your priorities, family first. Whether that be taking care of your kids or sharing with far away relatives. The picture of the spot in the parking lot where you had a contraction will always make me giggle, cuz it's just so cute and quirky like I imagine you!

We appreciate that you do blog, but will still be here if there are gaps. The pictures are a wonderful addition . I understand the need to keep friends and family connected to your life when they don't live near you.

I have had monents of guilt about blogging too. When Jaia was tini I would stick the nursing pillow on the computer chair and he would nurse and I would blog.
keep up the blogging AND the wonderful parenting! Man oh man Sooz looks like her Daddy in that last picture!
