Lookin' Below

Well, the deck project has been mostly completed for a while now. There were a few little things that needed to get finished in order for us to be totally done, though.

One thing - our tap was hanging precariously off the side of the house. Justin hooked up this little number so that it is sturdy. I love it.

Another thing was that our clothesline, which used to run to the covered portion of our deck, was removed in the deck destruction.
Justin hooked this up for us to the side of the house, so it's not even over the deck. It doesn't block any view of the back yard and actually, when there is laundry, provides some additional privacy from the deck to our neighbours.

The whole process was quite exciting, really. If you look at the pictures, you can see that our yard was in quite the disaster state for quite a while. Annnd... if you know me, you know that that doesn't sit well, especially when I'm nesting and irritable. The issue that has been bothering me the most (yes, I nkow, get a grip - it's not a big deal) has been the fact that under our deck we used to have nice garden areas and we were left with disaster. Broken bricks (which are expensive, I'm not impressed), dirt everywhere, my strawberry patch demolished, rocks all over and our gravel undercover no longer as undercover. There were a lot of things that I looked at and hoped would go away. Well, Justin, Hunter and I enjoyed cooler weather again this afternoon and went outside (again.. two days in a row, yay) to touch it up. I'm soooo happy. We have some semblance of order again. And... I think it looks pretty. You can click on the picture for a bigger image to compare that last link to.

The strawberries are just going to have to wait until next year, though.

Coming soon, a post because I was given an award by Kristin.

I hear ya on the whole not liking things out of order, bugs me too!

Things are looking good though and I am sure you'll love having everything the way you want it and in working order. :)

I hear ya, I hate things not being in their place just as much as the next mommy. But things are coming along, yeah? It's the 'nesting' phase of your pregnancy...I think you're getting the itch!
