Seven
I read a post today and learned A LOT about a fellow blogger. Julie, has tagged me for a "reveal seven things" meme. So, here goes.
First, random facts about my day...
One reason why my day today was terrible:
1) I let Hunter stroll himself down three cement stairs with a fully-loaded stroller and the stroller landed on him and he smashed his cute little face into the bricks on our front walk. Yeah, so I totally didn't let him, I am just a space cadet and turned around for a split second to lock the door behind us. Notes to self: I took Physics and learned about "momentum", I should try and remember it. And DUH, strollers have wheels, so they can move without you.
I pretty much felt like the worst Mommy ever and had my heart broken by the sound of my little guy's sobs. He was asking "kiss it better" through his tears and rapidly stopped crying once I gave him a kiss better. We snuggled on the couch for a good hour with his forehead on the pack of frozen peas and us wrapped in a blanket. Every now and then he would lift his head, look at me and say "All better?" Then he would look into my eyes and say "'Nuggle more" and go in for another hug. That part was great, the fact that his poor little head is shmucked... not so great. These bruises are going to last a while! These pictures, of course, were taken when he was feeling well enough to say "cheese" when he saw the camera.
The other cute part was that the pea bag was open a little bit so peas kept falling out onto the couch. He ate them ALL! He kept asking for more frozen peas to be dumped out of the bag, it was so cute.
Two reasons my day got better:
2) Justin is home with no work for the weekend. I love my two days a week at home, but I miss him for most of it.
3) My wedding rings were taken off while I was making meatballs for dinner tonight. I placed them on the counter. I left them there for a bit after I had finished preparing, while the oven was warming. When I returned to put the meatballs in, they were no longer there. With Hunter roaming around... I was a little worried. We gave Justin's ring to Hunter to see where he would put it but he kept giving it back. Justin and I tore the house apart, to no avail. We just got back from a niiiice loooong family walk (take THAT lbs) to get some ice cream... uhhhh, guilty! We discussed where the rings could be and came up with somewhere within reach of where we had last caught Hunter ring-less (right beside the spot where they were last seen standing at the stove (AHH) with his fingers in the meatballs (hand wash and talking-to required)). Sure enough, they were in the stove element hole thingy. Whew!
That leaves us with four random facts about me:
4) When I was younger (like, ten), I was in a club called the Junior Forest Wardens. We learned about forest protection and did fun outdoor events and activities. There was a big wildfire near Kamloops one year that we were involved in helping with re-planting. At the time, I had a crush on a boy in my class named Danny. I wrote "I love Danny" on the metal nametag I planted beside my tree. I wonder if it's still there. I don't love Danny anymore, by the way.
5) Once, when I was driving to a friend's house to sleepover (in grade eight) I spotted a brush fire on the side of the road. My Dad and I jumped out and started stomping at it, but it got bigger. So, then we ran back to the truck and got the big water jug and some spare towels (my Dad is the guy to go to if you aren't sure what to pack in a vehicle survival kit, let me tell you) and wetted them down and swatted them on the fire. It worked. We pretty much saved all of Kamloops (just kidding). By the way, the reasons I thought of those two random stories is that I just walked past the spot we put the fire out and remembered that funny little connection.
6) My younger siblings, for a long time, used to be scared that I was going to hit them or hurt them when I walked up to them quickly. I guess I was a little scary when I was younger. I sure hope that's not true anymore...
7) I am finding my gardens and all the work they entail a little more than I can handle this year. I know that I have a pretty valid excuse but it just kills me to think of all the work that I would have ahead of me, should I just let it go for a year. The dandelions in my lawn won't stop, the weeds are coming up everywhere, I still haven't fully planted my vegetable garden and I have dreams of other projects that I want to take on. Sigh, it's too much. I do take pleasure in my own little tulip festival that I have going, though they will all be finished soon and turn into limp masses of yellow leaves... These are all tulips from my own garden and I even had more amazing varieties that I missed getting shots of before they finished. Enjoy the sunshine they bring.
Now, just for fun I'm going to tag Candace, Kelly, Sarra, Mel, Carrie, Rachel and Danni. Have fun ladies, if you ever choose to get to it... You reveal seven random things and then tag seven more, if you want.

Poor little Hunter and poor you! You must feel terrible! He certainly looks fine, though and he's obviously loving the opportunity to soak up Mommy's lovin'. Hope he's better soon!
Your flowers are "fabulous"! Hunter sure loved saying that word last night, didn't he? What a sweetie! By the way, at the track meet today, I got to use Hunter's "Oh, no!" with my hand going to my head, like he does it! Then I reminded my students that it was a Hunter-ism! Fun!
Oops! I mean, "gorgeous" - that's the word Hunter was practising last night!
Poor guy! That's quite the goose-egg! Don't feel bad, we all have pictures from when we were little with black eyes or bruises...at least I do ;) haha. Beautiful flowers by the way, you sure do have a green thumb!
Wow your tulips are gorgeous!
Hunters poor little noggin, :( hopefully it wont get to black and blue and hopefully it will go away fast. He looks like it isn't slowing him down too much though, cute little guy!
Awww, poor little guy! It stinks when they get hurt! Especially when we feel like we could have avoided it. theBeast fell down our stairs the other day, it was horrible...but she was alright, not even a scratch.
OUch.... So sorry to both of you. Lots and lots of hugs. glad you found your rings!
Hope Hunter gets better soon, and that you don't feel qulity about it too long. Things just happen. Your Tulips are beautiful, beautiful enough to stir within me a desire to plant some of my own for next spring....All of your random stories together made me wonder if they called you 'The Warden' when you were little. :)
Hi guys! Your flowers are absolutely beautiful! It's just now gotten warm enough here in Edmonton to start planting the flowers and tomatoes...I sure hope we don't get a blast of Calgary's weather though!
It looks like the family vacation in Ottawa was a good time. Meg must be getting excited for her wedding!
We received your Christmas letter last week. It was neat reading about 2006...feels like it was just yesterday, but so much has happened in between. Thanks for the shout-outs!
I'm sorry you guys won't be around for the Kenney/Piroddi soiree, but hopefully we can see each other in July sometime. I look forward to seeing Hunter playing in the yard and the life growing inside of you!
Talk soon -Linda, John, and Fuzz xo
I love finding out these little tidbits of info on you! The pix are fab, and the one of you and Hunter has GOT to be on a mommy magazine somewhere. Seriously! Ya gotta submit it, it's an all-time fave of mine!
Give lil' Hunter a big kiss on his bruised noggin' for us. Hope your memorial day weekend is fun!
Don't worry, things like that happen. Thank goodness he's okay.
Poor little H :(
I'm glad he's doing okay and that you got all the nuggles :)
Your tulips are BEAUTIFUL!!!
