Something Suspicious

Today, Hunter and I went outside to play in the "leaves". Everyone, it seems, has been posting about fabulous times celebrating the fall season... playing in the fallen leaves and such. Well, here at our place, fall is a little different. We have needles to play in, not leaves. Such fun! Check out the totally unhappy look on Hunter's face as he climbs through the pile. Actually, it isn't that obvious, but he's quite unhappy.

As I was in the yard, I noticed a couple things that were a little unusual...
1) J and I have set up cool lights to shine onto our huge pine trees and provide accent to our yard at night. This afternoon, they were suspiciously pulled out of the ground in my (ready for winter) herb garden. Hunter..... I thought. I told him before to leave them alone, because it's not safe. He enjoyed playing with them as I was prepping the garden for winter and drying my herbs.

2) the side fence is broken. Dang! I thought that the dog that used to be next door must have broken it. Hunter couldn't possibly have busted my thirty year old fence, could he??? Or.. has something big been in my yard?

3) This confirms it. Hunter is not the culprit. He definitely doesn't leave droppings the size of my size 8.5 shoe!! A bear has visited my backyard! We have no fruit trees, just a compost that might have been appealing. I sure hope that it got away okay and that he/she knows to stay away next time. There are too many sad stories of bears in local neighbourhoods.

a bear in your yard - that's insane! and holy poopoo pile! I hope it stays away for everyone's safety. Have you had many bear sightings in your area?

We get bears too...and a yard full of pine needles!

Hope the bear doesn't come back. When one shows up here, Matthew just shoots it with his paintball gun :)

eep!

Good thing it wasn't Hunter busting through the fence and pooping on your lawn!

Seriously though, I hope it doesn't come back!

Are you serious? A bear in your backyard?! Freaky, glad it wasn't still there when you went out!

Bear? Yikes!

Where we live, no fall colors unless we travel to the mountains. We get fall colors by purchasing silk leaves. Ian doesn't know any different and had fun throwing them around and yelling out the names of the colors.
