Transitions
The Transition from work to holiday was relatively simple. I was completely exhausted from the year-end functions; Christmas concerts, gifts for my students, all that stuff, plus finishing off my grade 1 assignment. Then, Christmas preparations take over, and Christmas and all the energy it ensues follow closely behind.
It didn't take me long to get into the holiday groove. Now, Saturday afternoon, I am wondering how in the heck am I going to get back into work mode?
I have big problems.
I am still fighting a cold. I sleep until 9am. I hang out in my PJs and have a shower at noon. I have a nice long nap, with Hunter, in the afternoon. I go to bed around 10pm to begin the cycle over again.
In two sleeps, I will have to wake up before 7am. I will have to get breakfast for my family, shower and dress myself in work clothes, pack up for my son and get us all out of the house by 7:30am to get Hunter to his Auntie Kristin, drop J at work then get myself to work.
How am I going to do this??

Prayer.
I am feeling a litle bit of your pain too Liz
You just described my everyday life! LOL. Since I don't work...I don't have to wake up!! So sorry you have to get re-adjusted.
Yikes, going back to the real world bites!
Ian says copious of coffee.
I hear you... I go through that every time I switch to days (since I have to get up before 5 to be at work on time)!
I just do the, go to bed a bit earlier, have a snack when I first get up, then a bigger breakfast when my stomach is ready... although I just have pets and Ry to take care of.. not a young son! I hope it works out hun! :)
I know you can do it!
*hugs*
Same thing here. School starts on Wednesday. Even though I'm out of the house before 8 in the morning, it doesn't always include the boys. If they are still sleeping I just leave them and pick them up later (we have a nanny / maid)
So getting THEM ready will be change after a 7 week vacation for them
The transition back into every day life is much harder. My advice is to start slowly. Just try to get up a little earlier every morning.
I honestly don't know how you do it! Everything ready and out the door by 7:30, AYE CARUMBA!
If it were me, I'd spend the night before making sure everything is ready and try to go to sleep early. HA, I'd probably toss and turn all night wondering if I forgot to get something ready.
Caffeine and adrenaline would keep me functioning during the day. Good luck!
I GET HUNTER!!!!! YIPEE!!!!!
Chocolate is my answer... plenty through the day (then the gym)
I am feeling it too - tomorrow it starts. My husband is HAPPY as now I have to get up like he does.
Good luck!
Angela
yikes! the first little bit is always the worst, isn't it? and then the cold on top of it? don't you just wish you were a kid again sometimes so someone could baby you and you could sleep the day away...maybe even with the tv in your room and meals delivered? ahhhh...but responsibilities take over. I hope you're feeling better and the routine is getting easier.
