Getting it done

So, I have experienced a real change in my life. Some of you may think of me as:
Elizabeth
- always has thirty things on the go
-always early wherever she arrives
-always has a to-do list going with 50% of the things crossed off
-always completes her to-do list in two days (max)
-loves to stay up late and get up early
-clean freak
-loves to spend time in the outdoors
-capable of finishing a really long book in a day
-efficient and effective
Since the birth of my son and the purchase of my home, I have become:
Elizabeth
- always has thirty-thousand things on the go
-always late wherever she arrives
-always has a to-do list going with 10% of the things crossed off
-Can't complete her to-do list
-doesn't like to stay up late nor get up early
-clean freak, plagued by dishes, laundry, vacuuming, boxes to unpack, creased curtains, garbage, compost, recycling, plants, meals, more dishes... the list goes on
-loves to spend time in the outdoors, but can't seem to get out there
-incapable of finishing a really long book at all
-inefficient and ineffective (although I have my moments)
Seriously, annoying! I love being a mom and I love having a house, but I can now fill two sides of an 8.5 x 11 piece of paper with the jobs that I have to do and I only finish three or four of them (and, yes, I do cheat and write down every little itty bitty thing like "take a shower" and "feed Hunter").
Case in point... I still have not delivered (or mailed) all of my "Christmas" letters. I still have not delievered (or mailed) all of my Hunter's-birth-gift Thank yous Seven Months Later...
Sometimes I feel like, as a parent, I am a whole different person, incapable of doing the simplest things.... Does anyone else ever feel that way? It's terrible. And, it makes me feel terrible. But, I just make myself feel better by snuggling and feeding my boy, the sweetest kid ever. Sigh, I am going to go do that, right now.

It happens to all of us. Just do what needs to be done and you have figured out what the important stuff is. All that other stuff is just icing on the cake and really . . . do we need that icing? You are just fine, Liz. Enjoy your time at home with your little one. They aren't little for long.
